Upon entering, you're welcomed with a warmth that can only come from a passionate owner who is genuinely dedicated to the craft of Thai cooking.
What sets Jolene's apart is not just its inviting atmosphere, but the fabulous offerings on the menu. “ Celebrating a friend's birthday. Was astounded when a wonderful silver long-haired gentleman paid for our lunch. What a delightful man, Jeff from 3M. Our meal was wonderful enough so that each of us could have a great dinner also. The owner and the cook are friendly. She has a green thumb, shown by the fresh basil used in recipes. The small size of the restaurant is overshadowed by the great food. Two of us, myself and the birthday gal, had been before. The third was here visiting from Florida and did enjoy her food enormously. ”
“ Wife and I avoided this place after the first visit over 5yrs ago because the food wasn’t “Thai”. Whenever we craved Thai food we always went out of town until we recently found out about the new owner. We decided to try it again with an open mind and glad we did. The two dishes we wanted (Panang Curry and Massaman Curry) were not on the menu but the owner told us she could make them if we called ahead. She was surprised that we even knew about those dishes and asked if I was Thai. In the meantime she recommended we order the Red curry, which we did, with chicken and pork. The dishes were Delicious, packed with flavor and just the right amount of heat. Additionally, we ordered egg rolls and calamari which were both very good and tasted really fresh. One telltale sign of a good Thai restaurant is how well they make their Pad Thai, which the owner recommended I try on our next visit. I was so impressed with the curry dishes I ordered Pad Thai with shrimp to go, which I had to try before leaving the restaurant. Definite must order for anyone who loves noodles. Needless to say we don’t have to travel out of town anymore for Great Thai food. ”
“ Wow! Y’all this place is 100% worth your time. The food is delicious and authentic. The sweet owner was precious and so attentive. The restaurant is small but clean. I was so impressed. I will note medium heat was pretty spicy but nothing that deserves any less stars. Just know medium might be too much for some that are sensitive to heat. I am so glad we stopped and so excited to go back again. ”
“ If I could’ve given this restaurant, another star I would have. This was my first time to eat there, and even though I rarely come to Brownwood, I can assure you, it will not be my last. I love hole in the wall restaurants. This is one. It’s a stand alone, former neighborhood, tiny grocery store. In order to get to the restroom, you have to walk through the kitchen, which I was delighted to do because I wanted to see how clean this restaurant was. I was amazed. I knew that I would have no worries about the cleanliness or the quality of the food. Please understand, Thai food is my all-time favorite international food. And yellow curry is at the pinnacle of all the different dishes. I have eaten Thai food from Seattle, Washington to Atlanta, Georgia, small restaurants and large restaurants, hole in the wall and fine dining. Without exception, Jolene‘s Thai Cuisine made the very best yellow curry I have ever had. My only complaint is that my stomach was not larger. Of course, that was no fault of the restaurant. ”
“ It is clear that the owner of this cafe really takes pride in her cooking. Don't let the small, old building discourage you. The food inside is amazing. Lots of options on the menu. The owner/chef/waitress met us as we walked in and was a delightful hostess. Service was quick. The atmosphere was bright and cheerful, making the small space seem very comfortable. Will definitely go again next time passing through Brownwood. ”
“ I just recently tried this place after going to the other local one. I wish I had gone here first! Jolene is the sweetest lady and seems to have rapport with her regular customers (who she greated knowingly as they came in while I was picking up). She asked if I was new in town and hopped I'd come back. I ordered the tofu pad thai and oh my, it was flavorful as well as the perfect amount of spice (granted I probably could have done a 5 or 6 spicy and been happy, haha!). I may ask that she cook the tofu a little longer next time to give it a crisp outer layer. She's definitely top tier with my home state thai restaurants! From the outside, it looks like a hole in the wall place, but those are always the best. The restaurant is smaller inside but it's so bright and welcoming and looked clean and well maintained, I could definitely eat in. Parking is tight, as it's only a long slip of gravel out front. If you haven't tried Jolene's yet, I'd suggest you do so ASAP! ”
“ We love Jolene's. My favorite is sweet and sour chicken!!! The location on Coggin is perfect for me as it's close to where I live. The owner is so friendly and remembers us everytime we come in. During the summer I share my Thai basil with her. This week she is doing Panang and oh my!!!! It was so good!!! The 2Go containers are filled to the brim!! You won't be disappointed with this choice for Thai food!!! ”
“ Super cute small Thai spot! Great prices and super friendly staff! Vegan options!!! Great flavor! ”
